About us
PT MSJ is an aquaculture company in Bintan Island, Indonesia that operates the world’s first RAS mud
crab hatchery for Scylla serrata. PT MSJ supplies farming partners with crablets to be grown on their sites
to harvest. PT MSJ then processes harvested crabs to be exported for sale to markets across the world in
both soft-shell and hard-shell form.
Qualifications & experience
- Minimum of 3 years in an operations manager (or equivalent) role in aquaculture, agriculture, or manufacturing
- Excellent data management, analysis, and reporting
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to converse in both Bahasa Indonesia and English
- History of commitment and enforcement of safe work practices
- Preferred Additional Selection Criteria
– Aquaculture or Agri-business qualification and / or experience
– Experience in water quality, microbiology, or biosecurity
– Experience in commercial or academic hatcheries (finfish, crustacean, bivalve)
Tasks & responsibilities
- Day-to-day operation of the hatchery facility.
a. Production planning and forecasting to meet monthly crablet/fingerling quotas.
b. Budgeting and reporting
c. Maintaining SOPs, checklists, and an up-to-date hatchery operation manual.
d. Maintain production quality and facility biosecurity. - Coordination of hatchery production with partner farmers to ensure a smooth transition of crablets to on farm husbandry.
- Collaborate with the management team to review production needs, set production goals, and establish a spawning schedule.
- Implement a thorough training program for hatchery staff and facilitate ongoing HR process and personnel reviews with an interest in continued improvement.
- Purchase and manage inventory of supplies, materials, and parts for the operation.
